My general lack of funds is starting to suck. I've got a bit of cash in the bank and a credit card bill to pay. I really don't want to have to dip into my savings. I also don't really want to go getting a job. I may try sweet talking Scott at tafe. He's in charge of the business/management side of the course and has in the past gotten students jobs in the music industry. That would be pretty sweet. Better than flipping burgers for minimum wage. I think he would help me out, I'm one of the better students in the class. Hopefully at the start of next year I'll be able to move to Leederville, within walking distance of tafe. And hopefully I'll be working somewhere close to there. That'd be sweet.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. Gonna be jamming with some friends that I met through the internet. Out in Gidgeganup, miles from anywhere. Perhaps it's all a ploy so that the guy can murder us all, away from any witnesses. I should give someone the address... But it should be good. Lots of drinking and guitar playing shall be going down. Two of my favourite things. I'm also going into tafe tomorrow during the day to jam with my tafe band. I think we're starting to sound pretty good now. The songs have a lot more structure now and we're all playing pretty tightly.

Hopefully I'll post something tomorrow afternoon, between tafe and getting murdered. If not then, Saturday morning.

I saw Chris Cornell on Thursday night. This made me a very happy man. Although I wasn't happy about the price I had to pay for the pleasure. He was supporting Linkin Park. So crap. Why isn't he headlining? Ah well he was great. He played a few Soundgarden and Audioslave songs plus one of his solo songs. About what I expected considering he was playing to mainly Linkin Park fans. Some of the songs he played were Spoonman, Jesus Christ Pose, Black Hole Sun, Rusty Cage, Be Yourself, Like A Stone and You Know My Name. There were a couple others that I can't remember the names of. I didn't even stay for Linkin Park. Missing the traffic was good. Now I just gotta see Scott Weiland. Then I can die happy.

I went and saw Superbad with my sister tonight. It was alright. Some real funny bits. Lost a bit of pace in the last third of the movie but ended ok. Whilst there were some funny lines, the bit I laughed hardest at was the bit with the drawings of penises.

It was good but it didn't live up to the high expectations i had. I heard too many good reviews before seeing it. I was expecting another Blades of Glory.

I would write more, I'd love to go on about my love of Will Farrell, but I have an assignment due in the morning. Oh yeah.

Tafe today. As expected, not having finished assignments was a non-issue. Only six people actually showed up for class. I can't believe how slack everyone there is. Today was our first "Rock and Roll history" class! Why wouldn't you show up for that? Especially since most of the kids there know fuck all about any music more than five years old. Although the class did take a while to get going. We are supposed to start tafe at 9am. Gus, our lecturer on mondays, likes to start half an hour later though and leave half an hour later. So he gets to miss the traffic I guess. But today we didn't end up getting started till about 10am. The reason being Gus got a call from Angry Anderson, the front man for Australian hard rock legends Rose Tattoo. The band is in Perth this week supporting Motorhead and Angry had to talk a bit of business with Gus. Outside of tafe, Gus works taking care of bands. Driving them from the airport to wherever and the like. So when we finally start at 10 he begins talking about assignments. Half the people there didn't even know there was an assignment so the next half hour was spent talking about the assignment. It was mainly one person doing the talking. Amy. When she first started tafe I thought that because she was always asking questions it meant that she was really interested in what the lecturers had to say. But the truth is that she's just dumb and doesn't listen to what is said. Half an hour of Gus explaining to her what is involved in these assignments. It's written on the sheet what you have to do. A 300 word essay about your goals in the music industry. Does that sound difficult? And a list of 40 industry contacts. There were even dot points on the sheets outlining what to talk about in your industry goals and telling you exactly what kind of industry contacts you needed. Fair enough if she needs a bit of help but if that is the case then she should stay back after class to talk to Gus, not take up class time. So after a while of Gus repeating himself he sent us off for a break to get a coffee or whatever. He told us to come back at 11am and that is when we started talking about rock history. I don't know why I bother to show up on time every day. The rock history lesson was good though. We started with the '50s and early '60s today. It was basically just an open discussion with Gus about old bands and artists. Pretty good. I think I'm the star student in this class. I was talking a fair bit in class and I hung around after class and chatted about The Who. I love tafe.

Well it's guitar o'clock. Time to play.

Well fuck. It's late, I'm tired, I only finished one assignment. Let this be a lesson to me. Luckily tafe is pretty laid back about these kinda things. Nobody will have their assignments done. At least I got one done. And one of them isn't actually due until Wednesday anyway so I should be safe. Actually, one person will have theirs done. Tom. He's like thirty something. Takes it a bit more seriously than everyone else. He's in my band. He's the only person to have handed in every assignment on time which I suppose isn't a bad thing.

I guess they can't complain about us not handing shit in on time. They are there to teach us about rock and roll after all. If I show up at tafe tomorrow with a hangover I'll probably get bonus marks.

Tomorrow I have to go back to tafe. Well, "have to" makes it sound like something I don't want to do. Tafe is actually pretty great. Tomorrow we start our 'Rock History' class. No shit. And then I have to play guitar for a couple of hours with my friends. It is how study should be. I go there to learn about exactly what interests me while also using tafe resources to develop my skills and songwriting in a focused environment. And, luckily, I can claim a bit of government benifits while studying. I don't get much, just enough so that I don't really need to get a job to survive.

So I am looking forward to getting back to tafe, except for the fact that I have three assignments due tomorrow. Been on holiday for two weeks and I haven't started any assignments yet. I'll get them done tonight. One is a 300 word essay on my goals in the music industry. That can't be too hard. 300 words is nothing really. The next assignment is a list of 40 industry contacts. And that one can be hand written. So easy. The final assignment is two reviews. In dot point form. A review of a live band and a review of a song that features some kind of effect in it. The live band I'll write about is Will Stoker and the Embers. A local Perth band. I know the guitarist a bit. Met him when I bought an effect pedal off him from an ad he had on perthbands.com - a local music scene website. Perthbands' main feature is it's forum. Excellent for advertising stuff to sell, looking for band members, plugging shows and generally talking shit. I've also jammed with the guy before. With me on drums, huzzah. And with the song review, I will do The White Stripes - Take, Take, Take. Because of the badly double tracked vocals and extreme panning. I say badly double tracked, I believe that was the desired effect. Very interesting sound.

Well, enough writing for now. I'm heading out for a bit of shopping. I'm not starting those assignments yet. I still have a whole 23 hours to go.

I think I am ready to give up on Facebook. So many requests for bullshit apps. I do not want to add "Hot Friends" to my profile. And if I click ignore once, I'm gonna click it again. So stop sending me requests. Maybe I could try just ignoring them, not clicking ignore, not clicking confirm. Just leave it. Maybe it won't let me have more than one invite from the same person for the same app. It could work. Hopefully.

Myspace isn't too bad. Sure some people have pages filled with shit but at least nothing really invades my page. Someone's page was filled with so much crap it actually crashed my computer. And my computer is relatively new. I do like being able to upload music and have it accessible to everyone. And the way comments work is pretty good. Although bulletins are absolute crap. I wish there was a way of ignoring bulletins from certian people. I once had the whole bulletin list filled up by just two people forwarding crap. I have got so much bad luck hanging over my head now for opening things and not forwarding them. And they make it misleading with the title of the bulletin. Sounds like something important but it's another chain letter or questionare or something. And if it is a questionare, nearly every question has a one word answer. I thought these things were supposed to be to let your friends know a bit about you. All you're telling me is that you are a bimbo with nothing intelligent to say. If I ever do a questionare I at least try to put a bit of thought into it. I usually try to put in a few jokes. I try to make it at least slightly interesting for people to read. I must be good at it because I've seen people actually steal some of my answers. Make up your own comedy gold. Well maybe not gold. I'd give it bronze at best. Not that it's a competition anyway. I'd say that when it comes to myspace, everyone's a loser.
